We had the privilege to attend the very first Recovery Café facilitated through the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services in West Philly. Local behavioral and mental health agencies from around the area gathered at Lucien E. Blackwell Library to share information on resources available to those seeking help. We were happy to hear stories of recovery and to share with the community what Horizon House is all about. There were also refreshments such as Wawa coffee, drinks, and snacks provided to give the gathering more of a “café” feel! Thanks to the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services for this wonderful event!

We were thrilled to host our amazing team members last week at the Horizon House Staff Holiday Party! This year’s theme was a Holiday Party Sneaker Ball, so our team members came dressed to impress and ready to celebrate in their freshest, flashiest and fanciest sneakers. We’re excited to show off the newly renovated kitchen at our Spruce Hill location (part of Horizon House’s Behavioral Health Services Division)! This new kitchen at Spruce Hill provides participants ample resources to learn and practice healthy nutrition habits as they recover in a community-based environment. Thank you to all who made this possible!

Just because it’s the New Year doesn’t mean we can’t look back on a Holiday celebration! Our amazing team at our Providence House location put together a fun, spirited Holiday party for our participants that included giveaways and even a visit from a special guest who calls the North Pole home. A great time with great people!

We are beyond excited and grateful to share the following news with you all: Horizon House has been named one of the donation recipients of the proceeds from the Philadelphia Eagles A Philly Special Christmas Special album! It’s hard to explain just how thankful we are to our Eagles family for the generous donation. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping to make a difference in the lives of our participants. (P.S.: Thank you also to all Taylor Swift Swifties and Travis Kelce fans who bought the album for Travis’ performance, too! )

It was a pleasure to be out in the Wilmington community on Monday, January 15 to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during an outreach and education event for Wilmington’s homeless population. We teamed with our friends TheJourney DE, The Arc of Delaware, 1in7B_Foundation and other local organizations to provide resources, food, clothes and more for those in need while guest speakers spoke on the impact Dr. King and his work continue to have. Thank you all for coming out and supporting the community!
