Horizon House is proud to share our participation in sponsoring a team in the Eagles Autism Challenge charity event that took place last Saturday. Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie was humbled by the efforts of nearly 4,500 participants who came together to raise a total of 6.2 million dollars for this wonderful mission. Even the rain could not stop all of the players, coaches, bikers, runners, and walkers from showing their support and enjoying this celebration. A huge thank you goes out to our awesome Horizon House team for taking part!
Gardening In West Philadelphia
Horizon House was happy to team up with Community Health and Gardens, Inc. in West Philadelphia yesterday afternoon to plant some seeds in the dirt. We had a great volunteer turnout with some staff and participants from one of our Behavioral Health Services, the Wellness Alliance. Everyone had a wonderful time pitching in and getting their hands dirty. We raked, shoveled, pulled weeds, and watered the new seeds for this lovely community garden. To top it all off, the weather was sunny and perfect for a nice afternoon spent together!
Providence House Lunch Returns For First Time Since Pandemic
Our very own Providence House in Delaware County was back to serve lunch for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic! Providence House is one of our Behavioral Health Services locations and was widely known to serve regular lunches to our participants prior to the pandemic. Our wonderful Providence House staff would come together to prepare and serve large lunches and it was always a huge success. Unfortunately, like many other great community endeavors, lunches were put on pause during the pandemic. We are happy to report that our very first lunch back was another great success as we served 18 participants in total!
