Recently, our Susquehanna Park location participated in another Journey of Hope kickball tournament in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia. They competed alongside three other behavioral health organizations for a shot at taking home the tournament trophy. Susquehanna participants were the reigning champs from 2023, and we are happy to report that our program won again! Congrats again to all involved!
PEACE Program Alumni Picnic in the Park
Today, our PEACE program participants and staff put together a small get-together event in Penn Treaty Park alongside the Delaware River. The event is a quarterly outing provided to current and graduated PEACE program participants. PEACE program alumni are heavily involved in the planning of this event and work together as part of an alumni planning committee. Today’s event had lunch, tie-dying, karaoke, and a clothing giveaway. It was a pleasure to attend this event and we look forward to future events alongside our PEACE program.
Montgomery County Location Kitchen Renovation
We’re excited to share with you all photos of this beautiful kitchen renovation that recently took place at one of our Montgomery County Behavioral Health Services locations. We pride ourselves on providing participants with the best environments during their respective recoveries and this amazing renovation is an example of just that.
Peer Recovery Center Partners with The Journey
This past weekend, our awesome team from the Peer Recovery Center in Delaware once again joined forces with our great partner The Journey for two community events in Wilmington – TLC in the Park on Saturday and a donation event on Sunday. On Saturday, over 300 people were served with food, clothes and personal items while enjoying carnival games and demonstrations from the Wilmington police K-9 Team. On Sunday, the Journey brought donations to Horizon House and handed them out to those in need throughout the day. Over 130 people received donated goods on Sunday. All told, nearly 500 people in Delaware were served with life-affirming goods throughout the weekend. UPenn’s Women’s Athletic Association
It was a pleasure to join our friends from University of Pennsylvania‘s Women’s Athletic Association this past weekend to collect donations for our participants at the UPenn-Harvard women’s lacrosse game at Penn Park. Thank you to all who came by to drop off donations while enjoying seeing the home team win on a beautiful afternoon. We look forward to coming back again soon!
Partnering with St. Joseph’s and Penn Medicine
It was a pleasure to join our partners from Saint Joseph’s University and Penn Medicine Cancer for a mobile health clinic this past weekend at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in South Philly. Local residents received essential health services, including mental health screenings provided by our Horizon House professionals. This event was part of a new Horizon House partnership that we are extremely excited about. In the coming months, we’ll be joining St. Joe’s and Penn Medicine Cancer for similar events across Philadelphia. Stay tuned for more info on when and where you can find us next!

Horizon House, Councilman Curtis Jones Sponsoring West Philly Health Fair and Holiday Giveaway
Horizon House is proud to team with Philadelphia City Councilman Curtis Jones, Jr. and other West Philadelphia-based nonprofits and businesses for the upcoming West Philly Health Fair and Holiday Giveaway on Saturday, Dec. 16.
We will be on hand to provide information and resources on our services to members of the local community. There will also be health screenings and other resources available from other numerous organizations.
And, starting at 1 p.m., Jolly Old St. Nick himself, Santa Claus, will arrive to hand out gifts to the children in attendance and conduct raffles for gift baskets for the adults on hand.

Providence House Participant Renee Highlighted in CBS 3 Philadelphia Feature Story
We are beyond excited to share with you CBS Philadelphia’s feature story that aired on Horizon House participant Renee.
Renee is a Behavioral Health Services participant who attends group sessions at our Providence House location in Delaware County. She has struggled with mental illness for the better part of 40 years, but is now using her experiences and recovery to help others through her published self-help books.
Not only that, Renee is also using the books to give back to those who have helped her. She will not be taking any profit from her newest book, which was released on Amazon on Nov. 1. Instead, she intends to give back to the places that have helped her in her recovery.
